Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run

The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run is a global relay that seeks to promote international friendship and understanding. As a symbol of peace and harmony, runners carry a flaming torch, passing it from hand to hand whilst travelling through over 80 nations around the globe. The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run does not seek to raise money or highlight any political cause, but simply strives to create goodwill among peoples of all nations.

The Peace Run, also known as the World Harmony Run, was founded by Sri Chinmoy in 1987. It is now an annual event with relay runs taking part in all different continents such as Africa, Europe, Americas, Asia and Australasia.

Sri Chinmoy founded the Peace Run primarily to try and promote a feeling of oneness amongst different nations, races and cultures. In particular, Sri Chinmoy feels that sport can play a very important role in bringing people together.

In the past two decades, the Peace Run has touched the lives of countless people, who have been inspired by the simple message that the Peace Run offers. The Peace Run has also visited many schools, giving young children the opportunity to participate and share in the hopes of creating a better future.

Sri Chinmoy is a firm believer that it is through individual effort and personal change that world peace can become a reality here on earth.

“Peace does not mean the absence of war, peace means the presence of harmony,
love, satisfaction and oneness. Peace means a flood of love in the world family.”

- Sri Chinmoy [1]
